Dracula is based off of Vlad the Impaler. He ruled in the area of modern-day Romania, Transylvania, and Hungary. He ruled during the 15th century. It is rumored that Dracula is also based off of the Countess Elizabeth Bathory. She resided in Hungary. She was convicted of murder and torture of virgin village women and a few noblewomen. It was told that she drank and bathed in the blood of her victims to make herself youthful. There are some beliefs that her husband also partook in the torture and murder that his wife indulged in.
