Who has earned the most trust points this month?

We can't tell but if you would like to keep track of every contributor on WikiAnswers, there is no problem with that.

Does having trust points have anything to do with giving trust points?

It sort of depends what you mean. You can get trust points from people that you have given them to, but most are given at random and you never have an idea who gives them to you. The people with many trust points that I have given trust points to never knew, unless I told them and then sometimes they would give me one also. The PC answer is that you get trust points from answering questions, But I suspect the greeters get quite a few from the people that are new when they receive a welcome message from the greeters. I know I gave my greeter a trust point even before I gave myself one. However to answer your question you could give trust points to every contributor you see the link for and never get one back. After you have given a trust point to a contributor the link changes to send message because you can only give each contributor a trust once. That is the only way anyone can tell for sure if you gave someone a trust point and only you can see that your link has changed. There are no rules against letting someone know that you gave them a trust point and if you let them know the reason you may find that many people will also give you a trust point back. Some reasons could be I liked your answer to " ??? " question, or I noticed all your contributions to the site, or I noticed ??? about your bio page. That is probably the only method that giving trust points can also get you trust points. Now if you were asking if you need points to be able to give them you don't need any trust points to be able to give hundreds or even thousands. The only thing necessary to give trust points is that you click on the link to recommend contributor.

Is there a WA badge for 1000 trust points?

How can you find out who gave you your trust points?

Trust your Trust PointsAt present, there is no way for you to determine who gave you a trust point, unless the contributor who did so informs you via your message board. An encouraging thing to do is to leave a message for the user to whom you give a trust point and to tell that user why you gave it. Most users are not only happy to receive the trust point, but also to get the message!

Is there any award for most trust points?

There are WAmmy's awarded annually for "Most trust points earned" and "Most Trust Points by a New Supervisor" the award is posted on the users profile page and they are also entered into the WAmmy hall of fame (see related link). There is also a related question below which shows all WikiAnswers users who have gained over 2,000 trust points.

How do you get people to recommend you to get trust points at Answers.com?

Typically, asking for trust points can or is discouraged. Those who earn trust points are for the most part contributing wonderful things to Answers.com which can include, nice, well organized answers. There are MANY WAYS to earn trust points though.

Are the answers on this website legit?

Yes, most of the answers on WikiAnswers are legitimate answers. You can tell if they are legit answers by the user's trust points. ID's do not have trust points, and you are taking a chance at taking their answer as legit since they do not have trust points. Most of the answers on WikiAnswers are in fact legitimate answers.

What is a 'trust point' on WikiAnswers?

They are points that you get when people Recommend you. But is it because they trust your answer? Perhaps. At the bottom of the questions that have been answered appear two bits of information. One is the "First answer by" and the other is "Last edit by" with each followed by a Username or User I.D. After the Username on "Last edit by" you'll see [recommend] there. (It does not appear after a user I.D. but only for registered users.) If you click on that link, you will have given a Recommend to that last contributor. The Trust Point could be looked as a "thank you" to the person whose answer you found acceptable. (This, even though the last editor may not be the primary and "most contributing" individual to the post.) It may be a "reward" to that person. Or it could be, as suggested, a measure of how much to trust the answer of the person posting. There's always that. But it may not be what you think. Note that, as mentioned, the last Contributor who edited the post may not be the one really "responsible" for the bulk of the answer. Also, lots of trust points may be an "artificial" way of measuring the performance of a Contributor. There have been instances where someone has posted a fabulous answer, and someone else has come along and dotted an 'i' or the like and failed to check the "minor edit" box and then "taken credit" for the answer - and gotten a bunch of recommends for it. Even though they didn't do any "real work" on the post, they bag points. The post stays up until some Supervisor does a "Revert" to restore credit to the original editor. But the points stay up. How fair is that? How "phony" the trust points "earned" by that Contributor? Give a bit of thought to trust points and what they are and how the system works. It may even be worth it to check to see who posted that bit of the answer that really "pushed it over the top" for you and caused you to want to recommend a Contributor. That individual may not have his name up anywhere on the answer and can only be found in the "Question history" to that query. As written from the Help Center:Trust Points enable you to vote for a WikiAnswers member whose contributions you think are worthwhile and legitimate. It is important to note that Trust Points are not a good measurement of how much you can trust the answer to a question. They are simply an indication of how trusted the last contributor is as a member of the WikiAnswers community. All answers should be critically considered. For reliable advice of any sort you need to consult a qualified professional in your local area.Trust points can be given by clicking on recommend contributor next to the contributor's username, which can be found either on the contributor's contributions page or on any Q&A page where that contributor was the last to answer.Contributors are notified by email when they are recommended. This email does not include the name of the person who recommended them, preserving their privacy. You can always thank someone directly by posting a message on their message board. Just visit their profile page and click Message user.
