Father William P. Leahy of the Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus has been President of Boston College, a highly regarded private university associated with the Jesuit Order of the Catholic Church, since 1996. Prior to leading Boston College, he served as Vice-President of Marquette University.

Father Leahy is a respected scholar in the field of 20th-century American social and religious history, and the author of Adapting to America: Catholics, Jesuits and Higher Education in the Twentieth Century, (March 1991).

He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University, an M.A. from St. Louis University, and an addition master's degree in Theology from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, California.
