They were the worst pairing imaginable. The whaler and the missionaries. American whalers were a rugged, lecherous, spendthrift and in search of self-gratification. The ultra-conservative New England Missionaries were pious, conservative, prudent and god fearing individuals who loved the Mumu, celibicy, chastity and purity.
They were an Odd Couple to share an Island Paradise. Whaling died out but left the depredation behind them. The Missionaries left therir progeny behind who plundered the Islands, overthrew the Monarchy, and virtually enslaved a million people in search of sandlewood, sugar and pineapple fortunes.
The first settlers in Hawaii were the Christian missionaries in the 1800s. They moved from the United States to the Kingdom of Hawaii to make local cities less populated. The missionaries started sugar plantains which helped Hawaii's economy. Queen Liliuokalani (lee*LEE*oo*oh*kah*LAH*nee) became the leader o Hawaii in 1891.
Hawaii was not part of the USA until it became a state on 21 August 1959, when all its aboriginal inhabitants officially became "native Americans" almost by accident and at the click of a switch. So there was no "first native American in Hawaii".
Prior to 1959 the Hawaiian islanders had absolutely no connection at all with native American people - they are Polynesians, related to the Maoris of New Zealand, the Tahitians, the Easter Islanders and all the native peoples of Polynesia.
The first known European contact with the natives of Hawaii was by English Captain James Cook in 1778, so it is surprising that the area did not become part of Great Britain instead of the USA.

James Cook, who was not yet a captain at this stage, recommended Botany Bay in New South Wales as a good place to start a new settlement. Botany Bay is a harbour on the east coast of Australia, but in the end it was not the best place to start a settlement, and the First Fleet moved north to Port Jackson.
De Ayllón led an expedition from Santo Domingo. He established a settlement called San Miguel de Gualdape. it was doomed for failure from the start. it ended up failing because the leader of the settlement died, there was a lack of food, & there was a slave revolt
