I don't know what you mean by "ad".

I may be wrong, but I believe the Greek Orthodox Church's hierarch is Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, Turkey, who is one of the patriarchs of the broader Orthodox Church.

How old is the greek orthodox religion?

The Orthodox Christian Church is over 2,000 years old, however, the name for this Church in Greece and some other parts of the world started to become known as "Greek Orthodox" from about 1821. The Greek Orthodox are part of the Orthodox Christian Church (sometimes called the Eastern Orthodox Church) which is the same Church that Jesus founded in 33 AD.

Greek Orthodox Church began when?

The Orthodox Christian Church (also referred to as the Eastern Orthodox Church or Greek Orthodox Church) claims that it began in the year 33 AD, on the Day of Pentecost. At that time, there was no such thing as a Catholic or Orthodox Church, as everyone was part of the One Church. However, in 1054 AD, the West broke away and formed what is now known as the Roman Catholic Church. Following this, numerous Protestant groups were formed in the West, whereas the East remained united and unchanged, as the one Church that continued from 33 AD to the present day.

What year did the Greek Orthodox Religion begin?

If by 'Greek Orthodox' you mean the Eastern Orthodox Faith (of which Greek Orthodoxy is a part) then it began in the year 33 AD. If you are referring to the Church of Greece, then it began in the year 1850. However, Orthodox Christianity existed in Greece since New Testament times (from St Paul's travels to Athens) and for most of its history, Greece came under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. The name "Greek Orthodox" should not be used to describe the whole Eastern Orthodox Church. People who are Greek and Orthodox belong to the same Orthodox Christian Faith. There is no nationality in the Orthodox Church. It is open to people of all backgrounds, races and cultures.

When was the first greek orthodox church built?

Soon after St Paul travelled to Athens and preached the Gospel, in the First century AD.

Is Greek Orthodox part of the Catholic Church?

No, they are two separate Christian groups.Roman Catholic AnswerThey were up until the eleventh century when they broke away. Orthodox AnswerThe Eastern Orthodox Church is not part of the Roman Catholic Church and did not break away. The Orthodox Church was founded in 33 AD, and has existed for over 2,000 years without any changes to its dogmas, beliefs or traditions, and without any splits. Both Roman Catholics and Orthodox shared the same history for the first 1,000 years, until they separated in 1054 AD. There have been recent attempts (since the 1960s) to reconcile the differences between the two churches.

When did the Orthodox Catholic Church start?

The Orthodox Church was founded by Jesus Himself in the year 33 AD, on the Day of Pentecost. According to Orthodox Christian beliefs, the Orthodox Church has always existed from the beginning of time (called the Church Triumphant) but the physical church on earth (called the Church Militant) was established in Jerusalem in 33 AD and continues to exist to this day without any changes to its dogmas and beliefs. From the Orthodox perspective, both the Orthodox and Catholics started at the same time, in the year 33 AD, when there was no such thing as Orthodox and Catholic, and there was only the universal Christian Church. So they both shared a common foundation for the first 1,000 years of their history. However, after that time, difference arose that led to the Great Schism of 1054 AD. This caused a split in the universal Church, which resulted in the formation of an Orthodox East and a Latin West. The Orthodox Church claims that the Latins (later known as Roman Catholics) split from the Body of the Church because of Papal claims of supremacy over the Church, and changes to the Nicene Creed (the filioque clause), which were not accepted by anyone else at that time.

What is sichism?

The schism in the Catholic Church occurred in 1056 AD. The split resulted in the formation of the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church.
