One division was comanded by Major General George Pickett and is known as Pickett's Charge although he was ordered to stay in back by Gen.Robert E Lee. The fault of this charge does not fall upon Picketts shoulders nor are the other two division commanders (Pettigrew and Trimble) to be faulted. Lieutenant General James Longstreet obeyed General Robert E. Lee who planned and ordered the charge.

Pickett's Charge, miles of open fields with VERY little coverage. 7000 confederates didn't die during pickett's charge, they were casualties which is dead, wounded and missing. I would say there were no more than 500 actual death during the charge.

Joshua Lawrence Chamberlin affected the outcome of the civil war by holding control of little round top in the battle of Gettysburg even though he ran out of ammo, he led a charge forcing most of the confederates charging up little round top to surrender to his division. If Chamberlin did surrender, the confederates would have had control of the high ground, and possibly winning the batte of Gettysburg, wich might have won the Confederates the war

Pickett's Charge was a large-scale infantry assault launched by the Confederates during the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. Despite its failure to break the Union lines, it marked the high-water mark of the Confederacy's advancement during the Civil War. Pickett's Charge also demonstrated the futility of frontal assaults against fortified positions, leading to a shift in Confederate strategy towards defensive warfare.
