Depends on where you live and what records you're talking about. Court records are held for what ever that peticular court holds their records for. Arrests records are kept locally and by the FBI and are entered from readable fingerprint cards (pink ones). If your fingerprints weren't taken through-out the course of the incident there wont be one to begin with. If there is a record they will stay on your record until your 70th birthday at which time they are disposed of (They assume you've died). Alternatively you can petition the courts to expunge (or seal in the incident occured as a minor) that record.
