Andrew Jackson lost the election of 1824. He lost the election because he did not have enough margin to win. He received the majority of the popular and electoral votes but it was not enough to win.
John Adams was the candidate who lost. Vice-president Aaron Burr also lost, in a a way, since he tied with his running mate in the electoral college and refused to concede. The House eventually gave the election to Jefferson, the real candidate.
In 1828, incumbent President John Quincy Adams (NR-MA) lost to General Andrew Jackson (D-TN) 178 to 83.
