Tools were made from wood, stone, bone, antler and horn.

A favourite treat when buffalo berries (bullberries) were ripe and juicy was to MASH them with a stick in a buffalo horn, then drink the delicious juice.

Women and children used birchwood digging sticks for collecting roots in spring and summer. The sticks were sharpened at one end and hardened in a fire; the upper end was rounded off so a person could push against it with their abdomen.

Buffalo horns made powder flasks for those warriors who carried guns, as well as horn spoons, ladles and cups. A bone tool was used for straightening arrow shafts and sometimes abrasive stone smoothers were used.

Hammers with stone heads were used by the women for pounding cooked meat to make pemmican; the meat was mixed with marrow fat and sometimes dried berries.

Originally knives and other bladed tools were made entirely of stone, but the Blackfoot tribes were very quick to adopt trade metal knives, awls and other tools offered by traders. Metal blades also replaced the stone or bone scrapers used in preparing hides.

What weapons did the blackfoot use?

Blackfoot Indians used spears, tomahawks, bow and arrows, the war club, and the dagger. The tomahawk and the dagger were used for hunting and fights. But the war club was used just for wars. The bow and arrow were used mostly for hunting buffalo. The Blackfoot would ride up very close on their horses and shoot an arrow into the buffalo. If the arrow was still sticking out the side of the buffalo, the rider would grab the arrow and fire it at the buffalo again. THANKS FOR READING

How did the blackfoot hunt?

This is how the Blackfoot Indians hunted using their arrows. What they would do is they go closer to their prey on horses and shoot them with an arrow. If the buffalo is still alive after it got shot with an arrow, the Blackfoot would take out the arrow and thrust it back at the buffalo.
