The US Supreme Court ordered an end to the recount of questionable votes in Florida, where various forms of ballots had made many votes unclear. The close victory for George W. Bush in the state's official tally was thereby upheld, and Bush became the 43rd President, defeating the incumbent Vice President, Al Gore.

The electoral college elected Bush in 2000. ( The election was very close in Florida and law suits were filed to demand a recount. There were appeals and eventually the US Supreme Court ruled that there would be no more recounts and that the duly certified results would stand. If the electoral vote in Florida had been taken away from Bush and awarded to Gore, Gore would have won, so some people say that the Supreme Court decided the election.)

Jackson actually won the popular vote -- you are thinking of John Q. Adams who won the presidency in 1824 when Jackson won the plurality of the popular vote. Others who won the presidency but lost the popular vote were Hayes in 1876 and George Bush in 2000, and probably John Kennedy in 1960.

Which state's electoral votes and disarrayed voting count led to the controversial presidential victory of george wbush in the 2000 presidential election?

The controversial presidential victory of George W. Bush in the 2000 presidential election was largely attributed to the state of Florida. There were issues with the voting count in Florida, particularly with the infamous "hanging chads" on punch-card ballots and allegations of voter suppression. The election results in Florida were extremely close, ultimately leading to a legal battle and the decision of the Supreme Court in Bush v. Gore to end the recount, giving Bush the victory in Florida and thus the presidency.
