The Southern Colonies were of an agrarian economy, so they worked in agriculture, which called for plantations for the crops and the slaves to work on the crops. This became so deeply rooted that this is why the Southern Colonies that were soon to be the Southern States wished for slavery to be legal in the US.
I am not for sure but, I know the climate of the southern colonies was warmer but carried diseases. Other possibilities are, the growing seasons are longer or, rainfall was more "predictable". ( i am still in school so my answer is not perfect )

Well in the southern colonies there were planatations and slavery so they made plantations(big farms).So that slaves could work. And the climate is very hot and in the winters it is cold. That is where slavery acctually tooken place in.
