Either don't touch the barrel or wear gloves. You can also wipe down the barrel after shooting with some Crosman pellgun oil on a rag after shooting.. Do not use regular oil it can get into the gun and ruin the seals. Only use Crosman pellgun or RWS oil. I believe Gamo also may have an air gun oil that is okay to use.
