The Northern Army won the war
What was one of the most important differences between the northern economy and the southern economy? The northern economy was industrially based. The Southern economy was agriculturally based.

One source of conflict between the northern and southern Israelites was the division of the kingdom after the reign of King Solomon, leading to the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Southern Kingdom of Judah. This division created political and religious tensions between the two kingdoms, which eventually led to competition over power and resources.
The Civil War a.k.a. "The War Between The States"
It is in the northern one.
Yes, the equator is an imaginary line that runs horizontally around the Earth, dividing it into the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere. It is located at 0 degrees latitude and is equidistant from the North Pole and the South Pole.
One significant difference between the northern and southern Carolina settlements was their economic focus. The northern settlements, led by Virginia colonists, relied on tobacco cultivation for profit, while the southern settlements focused on rice cultivation and had a more diverse economy with plantations growing crops like indigo and cotton.
The northern army was the US Army. The southern army was the Army of the Confederate States. Actually though, the southerners intended to create a "regular" army just like the northern one, but never really got around to it, with just a few hundred officers holding commissions as regular officer of the ACS, and only a few thousand men enlisted in "Confederate" regiments. Most regiments, north and south, were raised by the states, and were not considered part of the regular army. Southern units like this were part of the "Provisional Army of the Confederate States" (PACS) and northern units were "US Volunteers" (USV). Each side had several field armies, intended to operate in a certain area. The southerners named theirs after geographic areas, the northerners named theirs after rivers, or the most prominent body of water in its area of of operations. The most famous southern armies were the Army of Northern Virginia (commanded by Robert E. Lee) and the Army of Tennessee, which had several commanders. Northern armies included the Army of the Potomac (opposed Lee), the Army of the James, the Army of the Tennessee, the Army of the Cumberland, the Army of the Ohio, and others.
That's no problem at all, and it should cause you no concern. When you travelfrom southern Ecuador to northern Ecuador, your route must cross the equator. The equator crosses Ecuador, and is defined as the boundary line between thenorthern and southern hemispheres. Consequently, part of Ecuador is in thenorthern hemisphere, while the rest of that country is in the southern one, andwhen you travel between those two parts of the country ... via either the shorterroute or the longer one ... you also cross the line between those two hemispheres.

If going by all regions of Europe, Switzerland would be placed in neither Southern or Northern Europe; it would be placed in Central Europe simply based on its location. However, if all European countries had to be placed as either being in Northern or Southern Europe (say, splitting Europe in "half"), Switzerland would be part of Northern Europe. Culturally and historically, Switzerland is more related to Northern Europe. The Alps are one of the cutoff lines between the north and south of Europe, and has historically acted as a separator between Northern and Southern Europe. Since Switzerland is on the northern side of the Alps, it has been open more to Northern European culture than Southern European.
