It was said by William Jennings Bryan during the election of 1896. He was advocating for the U.S to move away from the "gold standard" and adopt silver to back up U.S currency along with gold. Basically for farmers interests of the Populist movement they wanted more money in circulation because they all used to get loans from the banks. But I believe it was more like:
"I will not help mankind to be crucified on a cross of gold"
He lost the election and it did not happen.
Crucified.
He was sentenced to death. He had to carry his own cross and go to the place where the execution is. He falls three times and is finally crucified. He was nailed to the cross and the soldiers stripped him of his garment and gambled to see who would take it. They made him wear a crown of thorns to show all of the people that he was the Messiah or King.
The cross by itself signifies that Jesus is not on the cross but has risen from the grave. Christ on the cross signifies his sacrifice. Today, Catholicism has Christ on the cross on crucifixes while protestants tend to not have Him on the cross.
One of Jesus' disciples named Simon Peter was Crucified upside down. The reason he was upside down is that he did not count himself worthy to be crucified in the same way as Jesus.
Samuel Brannan.
No, he said he wasn't worthy to be crucified up so he had them pput him upsidedown.
Andrew died on an x-shaped cross in Greece.
he told them he was goin to be crucified on the cross he told them he was goin to be crucified on the cross he told them he was goin to be crucified on the cross
With malice toward none, with charity for all . . .apex= It was crucified on a cross of gold.
It isn't specified in the Bible.
The Cross
well Jesus was crucified on the cross
It would be more correct to say that Jesus died on a tree. He died on a cross.
There are few consistently agreed Christian traditions about the life and death of Saint Andrew after the founding of the Christian Church. He is said to have been martyred by crucifixion at Patras in Achaea, on the orders of the Roman governor. If this tradition is historical, no particular reason for his execution is known. Suffice to say that there is no reliable evidence that Andrew was even executed at all.Early texts, such as the Acts of Andrew, describe Andrew bound to a cross of the kind on which Christ was crucified, but a later tradition grew up that Andrew had been crucified on an X-shaped cross, commonly known as Saint Andrew's Cross, at his own request because he was unworthy to be crucified on the same type of cross on which Christ was crucified. This tradition is suspiciously similar to the tradition that his brother, Peter, also said he was unworthy to be crucified on the same type of cross on which Christ was crucified.
Thou shall pass upon to me your gold
Jesus didn't build the cross, he was crucified on it.
Saint Andrew, one of the twelve apostles, is traditionally believed to have been crucified on an X-shaped cross, known as a saltire. This cross is now known as the Saint Andrew's Cross and is used in the flag of Scotland.
