I first came across this concept from a guy in Connecticut who has since put togather a website dedicated to chickens as pets. It is called The New Dog (thenewdog.com). He has everything from chicken feeders and chicken houses to chicken diapers(!) and a slew of items for chicken enthusiasts from books to DVDs, clothes, jewelry and original art (paintings of chickens)! So, I believe this guy Steve at TheNewDog.com said it first!

There are some things you can do to discourage them from killing the chickens but it will never be safe for them to be with chickens without supervision.If you teach the dog a good recall then you will be able to call the dog away anytime it attempts to chase and kill a chicken and you could reward calm behavior (such as lying down and ignoring the chickens).But depending on the dog's prey dive they may never be able to be around chickens safely so use your judgement and keep the chickens safety in mind when trying to train him to be around them.

It depends on what type of dog it is and it depends on how aggressive or not the dog is. Mostly though most dogs will not eat a chicken, they will just be curious. I suggest you hold on to your dog by the collar or leash and just let them watch the chickens for a while. If you feel that maybe your dog won't attack the chickens, try and bring the dog a little closer. If dog tries to attack and eat the chickens, tell the dog NO! or whatever else you do to make the Dog learn.

It will take at least 4-6 weeks for a dog to learn new commands.If you have said alot of tricks to the dog it may get confused though.
We bought are chickens in August and the man said they were already laying but they aren't laying?
Hopefully your chickens are laying now but usually when you get them they should lay after 2-3 weeks. This is because they need to get used to their new surrounding and the atmosphere.
