There are probably several right in your area. Check the bulletin board at your local feed store. That is a great place to look. Farriers will leave their buisness cards tacked up there for people just like you. Also try local tack stores and ask employees. A lot of them not only work there they also have horses. Ask friends or a local stable may recommend a good shoer. If you have access to the internet (I suspect you do) look on the internet yellow pages or the yellow pages in your phone book. Once you have a prospect, ask around to see if others have had experience with him. Ask questions. Most farriers have been to an accredited school, check this out too. Its nice to have several prospects and compare prices. These can vary greatly and you don't want any unpleasant surprises once the shoes are already nailed on. Sometimes if friends get together and share the shoer he maybe can take a little off because he only has to travel to one place. Stable owners get deals because they have quantity.
