Prophet Muhammad [SAW], his actions, and his speeches made the entire Arabian peninsula go to Islam.

Imam Ali [AS] spread Islam a lot.

The other three Caliphs of Islam also spread it greatly.

The twelve Imams [AS] spread Islam.

Pious people and Islamic scholars also spread Islam.

Today, the Holy Qur'an and the blessings of Allah spread Islam the most.

Islam is, in fact, the continuation of Judaism and Christianity and the most up-dated form of the Guidance given to mankind by Almighty God. Its teachings are based on human nature. Its teachings are simple and can be put into practice easily. It does not demand 'the impossible' from its followers, therefore it is readily accepted by people who study it to seek guidance.
