If you are speaking of the the US Prohibition from 1919-1933, the prohibition of alcohol was passed as the 18th Amendment to the US Constitution by Congress over the veto of then President Woodrow Wilson as a result of pressure from the temperance movement.
The progressives which were middle class men and women formed various groups to initate reform movements during the presidency of Teddy Roosevelt. Many religious organizations such as the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) influenced the creation of the 18th amendment.
Temperance sentiment continues to influence public policy even today in the U.S. and some other countries.
Both the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and the Prohibition Party still exist.
