Solomon
There was no part of King Solomon's temple that was specifically designated as a wood storehouse. However, at the rear and on the two sides of the temple there were huge chambers for storage. They varied in width, and were 5 cubits high. (1 Kings 6:4-6,10)Doubtless wood for the altar fire would have been stored there, or brought in as required.See Related links below this box for plan of temple, showing storage areas on west north and south sides of temple.
King Soloman began building his temple in his fourth year of reign, although it was a desire first of his Father, King David. In the second month of 1034 B.C.E. a man named ZIV, followed the architectural plans that David had received by inspiration from God. It took 7 years to complete his work. Hiram, King of Tyre, supplied skilled workers in wood and stone. also; There was another expert also named Hiram, a fine workman in gold, silver, copper, iron, wood, stones and fabrics. Over 100,000 persons were inscripted in carrying out the building of Solomans Temple...
Solomon's Temple was designed by Samuel and King David; and they located the spot where the Temple would be built (Talmud, Zevachim 54b). David then dug the foundations (Talmud, Sukkah 53a), amassed the precious metals for its construction (1 Chronicles ch.29), and set the blueprints with Divine inspiration (1 Chronicles 28:19).The actual construction was done under King Solomon, with Hiram king of Tyre supplying Lebanese cedar-wood, and using one hundred and fifty thousand Israelite workers, plus workers supplied by Hiram (1 Kings ch.5).
Solomon ordered the construction of a temple in Jerusalem.
