Bernie Sanders has traditionally been supported by the people of Vermont of which he is a senator.
Demographically, he has done well with Democrats and Independents, particularly working class Democrats with middle to lower median incomes. He does well with people who self identify as Progressive, and to a lesser extent Liberal or Democrat. Racially, most of his support comes from the majority Caucasian population, though he did obtain large victories with some minorities, including a large victory in Hawaii, the nation's most diverse state, as well as with Muslims whom are credited with giving him a surprise Michigan victory. The LGBT community also largely supports Sanders due to his long standing support of LGBT rights.
Surprisingly despite being of Jewish heritage, Bernie does not have as much Jewish support due largely to his criticisms of right wing Jewish leadership in Israel. Further, he does not currently command a majority of African American support.
