I don't think Achilles stole anything from Patroclus. Patroclus stole Achilles armor and war it into battle. The Trojans thought he was Achilles and killed him.
Patroclus was Achilles cousin and was killed in the Trojan War by Hector. He was killed while wearing Achilles armour.

Depending on who you were talking to, he may have. Achilles refused to fight and so, Patroclus fought in his place and was killed by Hector (the Trojan hero). To avenge Patroclus' death, Achilles killed Hector.

Patroclus (in the Iliad) was killed by Hector - who had mistaken him for Achilles (Patroclus had borrowed Achilles' armour). So if the question is: 'Who did not kill Patroclus?' the answer is: everybody except Hector (Aeneas, Troilus, Sarpedon, Calchas, Hecuba .....).
Achilles believed that if he had not let Patroclus go out and fight he wouldn't have died.
