same bible differant beliefs about that bible for example catholics would tell you that the woman giving birth to God's son is Mary whereas the born again christian would say that the woman is a symbolic representation of isriel the christian group with an entirely differant bible in addition to the bible of Jesus would be the Mormons * Well I'm not sure about that (above) the born again Christians I know would say Mary is the woman who gave birth to God's son Jesus. Catholics revere Mary and pray to Mary ask Mary for forgiveness, born again Christians believe Jesus is their advocate before God. Anyway the bibles are the same except sometimes the Catholic Bibles have some additional books, often called the apocrypha.

One theory is that the Matthew gospel was written "with an agenda" to make sure that Jesus's story fulfilled all the old testament predictions for the messiah. One example is arranging for Jesus to be born in Bethlehem because of the Roman census (there was a prediction that the messiah would be born in Bethlehem). There was a census around that time, but long after Herod had died (Herod died in 4BC, the census was, ISTR in 7AD). In any case, it's pretty unlikely that people would have to return to their ancestor's birthplace from 1000 years previously for a census; what would be the point?
