Special Forces wear the green beret. Paratroopers wear the red beret. Until a few years ago US Army Rangers were the only ones allowed to wear the black beret, but in a controversial decision all US Army personnel were given the black beret to improve their morale. To placate the Rangers they were given a beret of a different color, tan or khaki if I am not mistaken.
