President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Democrat) ran with Senator Harry S. Truman, when he ran for his fourth term in office in 1944. After he was reelected, Harry Truman became Vice President. Then in April 1945, President FDR died from a cerebral hemorrhage and Harry Truman became President.
