No-one, as far as I know! I think perhaps you mean 'abdicated'. This means that a monarch gives up his or her right to the throne, standing down in favour of someone else. Edward VIII did this because he wanted to marry Wallis Simpson, a divorcee. According to the Constitution, he could not do this and remain king, so he chose to abdicate.
