It was an arranged marriage, arranged by the King of France Louis XV and the Empress of Austria, Maria Theresia.
Marie Antoinette married Louis XVI when she was 14 and he was 15. Louis XVI had always been taught that Austrians were not to be trusted (France had been at war with Austria for several years and this arranged marriage was kind of a truce and to improve the relation between France and Austria) and he was also very shy in the presence of women.
He therefore treated her in a kind, but distant way, trying to escape her presence in every way and neglecting her. The first few years were like this, and they were also not intimate with each other in the bedroom for 7 years.
Their relationship grew though, as they became friends, really good friends that knew they could trust one another. Louis XVI eventually actually included Marie Antoinette in making political decisions (something that had never been done before by a King).
I don't think there was passionate love between them. It was more of a respectful friendship. They did have 4 children though, because as the King and Queen they had to provide heirs to the throne.
It is only a rumor that she had one, though a very persistent one. It is said that her lover was Lieutenant General Count Hans Axel von Fersen. It has never been proved but the evidence in the form of heavily censured letters (by his family) was quite intimate.
