To escape an arranged marriage, and to give herself to the religious life, she made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and then to Rome, Italy. She returned to Constantinople to give away her wealth to the poor. She then returned to Naples, Italy to make pilgrimages to the tombs of martyrs and saints.
