Was it tough fighting in Vietnam jungle?

Yes, the US found it very difficult to keep up with the Vietnamese in their own jungle. They also underestimated them hugely. The Vietnamese used 'Guerilla tactics' and having known their turf, found it a lot easier than the US. An example of this is when the US set up bases and camps in Vietnam and were naive in not knowing that they were in a low grounded floodplain. The locals however watched from above and picked their time to come down. In addition, the Vietnamese used traps and tricks all over the jungle to manipulate their opponents. For example, the US could think they were walking perfectly normally in the jungle until they step into a see-saw trap which looks like a normal piece of land. They'd find themselves flipped over and stabbed by 2 foot long sharp spikes.
