Voltaire (Francois-Marie
Arouet)

Hated critics, loved life and was known to say on his deathbed, when last rights were performed on him by a Priest and Voltaire was asked "...to renounce Satan and all of his works" he replied "Now is not the time to making new enemies" although primary source documentation supporting the 'Final Statement' is lacking. Wrote the book "Candide"
which is hilarious and quite brilliant!
