Both Alexander the Great (ATG) and Genghis Khan share numerous similarities. Both were exceptional tacticions as their diverse application of creativity and intellect during battle lead to legendary victories in which their armies were at a numerical disadvantage. They are similar in the sense that both embarked on a journey to conquer vast lands, and both were motivated by the assasination of their fathers. However, it is there in which the similarities end. Genghis Khan's upbringing was completely different when compared to Alexander's. Whereas upon Alexander's fathers passing he inherited his army, Genghis Khan built his army from scratch; due to the betrayal of his fathers right hand man in which Temudjin (Genghis' natural name) and his family were deserted. Also, although I believe it a mis-interpretation, Genghis' reign has been viewed as one of tyranny, compared to the herioc persona assigned to Alexander's Genghis Khan conquered a great deal more land than Alexander. Both of them surely best of the best ever. However, I like Alexander more. Many people would say that I'm insane saying that, but let me explain why cuz Alexander conquered 6/7 of the known world, meanwhile Genghis Khan 2/3.
He created paper money, that was used throughout China. Kublai Khan also opened up more trade routes.
gave the more power to the emperor
Kublai Khan most likely ruled the same way as his ancestors. He was more known for his attacks on Japan. (Which ended in failure)
Genghis Khan was thought to have been born in 1155 or 1162. History is more certain that he died in August of 1227.
Kublai Khan, the grandson of Genghis Khan and fifth "Great Khan", though his real influence was limited to the areas of Mongolia, China and Korea. In 1271, Kublai re-united the the northern Han China with the southern Song China under Mongolian rule and founded the Yuan Dynasty, which would rule an area encompassing parts of modern China, Mongolia, Korea, Vietnam, Russia, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and India.
Ögedei, (also Ögädäi, Ögedäi, etc.), was the third son of Genghis Khan. He succeeded his father to rule as the second khan of the Mongol Empire. He continued the expansion the empire that his father had begun. Like all of Genghis' primary sons, he participated extensively in conquests in Northern China and Central Asia.He was elected supreme khan in 1229, according to the kuriltai held after Genghis' death, although this was never really in doubt as it was Genghis' clear wish that he be succeeded by Ögedei. Most history textbooks skip from Genghis Khan, who was the first Great Khan to his grandson Kublai Khan (by way of Tolui), who was the fifth Great Khan, because their reigns and their conquests are more famous. However, Ögedei (Genghis' son) was the second Great Khan and facilitated the largest increases in territory under Mongol control. (The third and fourth Great Khans were Ögedei's son Güyük and Kublai Khan's brother Möngke, respectively.)
Chinggis Khan (a more correct spelling than Genghis Khan) did not have a dog. According to his father, he was afraid of dogs (this is recorded in the "Secret History of the Mongols", section 66).
For the same reason most conquerors invade places... More land.
because marco was clever and got kublai kahan gold and so kublia wanted to keep him around for more gold
Jochi, Changatai, Ogodei, Tolui 2loserzhaha says: Ogedei was one of the greater khans and genghis's personal favorite. He took over after Genghis and conquered part of Europe. The others weren't to important.
