Genghis Khan had hundreds of children because he slept with and raped numerous women. Among his more important grandchildren, who were all legitimate, there are:

Kublai Khan, a grandson of Genghis Khan by his son Tolui, who founded the Yuan Dynasty, the Mongol Empire that ruled China from 1279-1368. He was also the fifth Great Khan, meaning that he had authority in all four parts of the Mongol Khaganate (Yuan Dyansty China, the Ilkhanate, the Chagatai Khanate, and Khanate of the Golden Horde). He was the Great Khan from 1260-1294, a 34-year reign.

Hülegü Khan, another grandson of Genghis Khan by his son Tolui, who led the conquest of the Persian and Abbassid Caliphates, destroying numerous cities and gaining a place of infamy among Middle Easterners. He founded the Ilkhanate, the Mongol Empire that ruled Persia, Mesopotamia, and eastern Anatolia for 1256-1335.

Güyük Khan, a grandson of Genghis Khan by his son Ögedei, who was the third Great Khan, inheriting the title from his father Ögedei who had inherited it from Genghis. He reigned for two years from 1246-1248.

Möngke Khan, another grandson of Genghis Khan by his son Tolui, who was seen as an impartial arbiter between his brothers Kublai and Hülegü which was why he was the fourth Great Khan, inheriting the title from Güyük and ruling from 1251-1259.

Baidar Khan, a grandson of Genghis Khan by his son Chagatai, who was involved in numerous battles in Europe prior to the death of Great Khan Ögedei. He is believed by many to have died in 1240 or 1241 at the hands of Czech King Václav (Vatslav) at the Battle of Olamoac.

Batu Khan, a grandson of Genghis Khan by his son Jochi, who was the founder of the Khanate of the Golden Horde in what is today Russia and Kazakhstan. He ruled from 1242-1255. He had a number of quarrels with Güyük over power in the larger empire
