The League of Nations was created by Wilson since he hoped this would prevent future wars, he agreed to make compromises on territorial agreements. He believed that the League would be able to settle unfair settlements. This is basically a treaty for peace. The Treaty of Versailles made the Germany's do very strict things, like paying about 30 billion dollars to repay the damage to France and the countries that were involved in the Allies alliance. The 'War Guild Clause' stated that the Germans started the war, along with Austria-Hungary. Military and territorial provisions of this angered the Germans. Germany had to reduce its army to 100k and cut back its navy, and lastly remove its airforce. Germany had to give up Alsace and Lorraine, who was controlled/ "owned" by the Germans since they took it from France in 1871.Sections of Germany had been awarded to a new Polish State.German land along the Rhine was made a demilitarized zone, and stripped of all weapons and fortifications.Basically the League of Nations was a peace treaty, and the Treaty of Versailles was the French and its allies (Clemenceau and George) to punish the Germans..which would lead a good reason for....WW2!
