The scripture refers to many - Jew and Gentile - who came to accept Jesus as Christ.

"But as many as received him [Jesus Christ], to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12,13. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:22. A truly converted Christian has a new life, being "born again" spiritually, and has been changed from the old life.

Some today, who claim to be a Christian, do not have this as a reality, but many in the New Testament had received this conversion experience. Yet to have this, there is no exclusion, if a person trusts in Christ: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28.

In the Old Testament, there are those who trusted in the coming Messiah, who is Christ. Christians encouraged others in New testament days, as Paul said of us, "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he [God] hath made him [Jesus} to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:20,21.
