The best known Commandant of Treblinka was Franz Stangl. He escaped to Latin America after World War 2 and lived and worked under his real name in Brazil. He was also registered with the Austrian consulate in Sao Paulo - again under his real name. It has been suggested that he was protected by someone at the consulate as well as Nazi friends in Brazil ... He was arrested in 1967 and extradited to West Germany for trial.

Franz Stangl was the commandant at Treblinka. I would call him infamous. He escaped after the war and wasn't apprehended until the late 60s. He was charged with the muder of 900,000 people and he admitted his guilt but simply said he was following orders. Amazing. Although Bruno is FICTIONAL, Rudolf Höss is really the first commandant of Auschwitz. Unlike Treblinka, Höss developed a method to trick people into thinking they were taking showers. At Treblinka, the people knew they were going to be gassed. The naïve part of Bruno is true, children are naïve and are un-hateful. The entire Holocaust part is real.
