Though Khomeini died in the 80s, as did the Shah years earler, Iran is still governed by an Islamic government.

∙ 11y agoInitially, it was not "led" by anyone, similar to the Egyptian Protests in 2011. The general population was tired of the Shah and decided to something about. Eventually, however, the Islamists under the direction of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini were able to direct the future of Iran by uniting the different factions revolting.
