The maiden flight of the space shuttle program was April 12, 1981. You are probably refering to the 1969 Apollo 11 manned flight to the Moon which carried Neil Armstrong, Edwin [Buzz] Aldwin and Michael Collins to the historic landing in the Sea of Tranquility on July 20. Six hours after touchdown, Neil Armstrong became the first man to step on the moon and Buzz Aldwin became the second. Michael Collins remained on the "mother ship" in lunar orbit. After a two and one half hour moon walk during which they collected 50 pounds of moon rocks, the duo blasted off from the surface of the moon and rejoined Michael Collins in orbit. On July 24, 1969 they safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean.
No Space Shuttle existed in 1969. The first shuttle launched in 1981.
The space shuttle didn't go to the moon. But the Apollo 11 trip took four days.
There were 5. Space Shuttle Columbia (destroyed in 2003), Space Shuttle Challenger (destroyed in 1886), Space Shuttle Discovery, Space Shuttle Atlantis, and Space Shuttle Endeavour.
The first space shuttle, Columbia, was the first shuttle launched into space on April 12, 1981. Prior to this, the shuttle Enterprise had performed flights to test various capabilities of the shuttle within earth's atmosphere. Enterprise was not designed for space flight.
The space shuttle is an Earth orbit vehicle. No humans have ever travelled to any body other than the Moon (from 1969 to 1972). All other space exploration has been by unmanned probes.

Space Shuttle Endeavour was the final Space Shuttle built. It was built to replace Space Shuttle Challenger.
The space shuttle went into space and studied outer space.
