Poland has the largest army in central Europe region in terms of active service personnel. It has 65000 troops on its strength. Germany is a close second with close to 62000 troops in its land forces.

During World War I, the commander of the American land forces in Europe was General John J. 'Blackjack' Pershing. With a long, distinguished career of military service behind him, Pershing proved capable, if not entirely above criticism, as overall commander of the 'American Expeditionary Force' in the European theater.
Admiral Chester W. Nimitz had overall command of all air , land and sea forces in the Pacific theater : Commander in Chief, United States Pacific Fleet (CinCPac) .
Feudalism emerged from a need for cavalry troops in Japan and Europe. The infrastructure was not in place to actively pay for these troops so a system was devised to grant land and hereditary rule as compensation.
The significance was large numbers of Allied troops back in Europe. This was important to fight the Germans on the land.
