Not an answer at all but, let's get this one started. Five person were
awarded the Victoria Cross on 23 August 1914. That's the first date
I've found that fits into WW-1. If someone finds an earlier date then
the following is null and void.
Maurice J. Dease and Sidney F. Godley were decorated for the same
action. Dease was wounded and out of action so Godley completed the
job. Dease takes precedence.
Charles A. Jarvis and Theodore Wright were involved in the second act.
Wright was knocked out of action and Jarvis finished the job. Wright's
action takes precedence.
Charles E. Garforth's VC comes from a different area. No times are
indicated in the citations. It becomes Your Choice.
