∙ 13y agoIt's impossible to answer that question. St. Augustine (4th Century) one of the preeminent Doctors of the Catholic Church was an African. Most likely, the 1st Catholic priest lived during the 1st Century AD, preaching alongside the Apostles.
Augustine was from North Africa but not black. He was fair-skinned as are most Egyptians, Algerians and Libyans today.
