The invention of the telescope is credited to Hans Lippershey. Crude telescopes and spyglasses may have been created much earlier by Dutch opticians, but Lippershey is believed to be the first to apply for a patent for his design. His telescope was made up of one convex lens and one concave lens.
Galileo Galilei perfected it by using two convex lenses. He constructed his first telescope in 1609. This telescope is called the Galilean telescope or the refracting telescope.
Isaac newton invented a telescope which used two mirrors. He constructed his first telescope in 1669. His version of the telescope was called the Newtonian telescope or the reflecting telescope.
Jupiter can be seen with the naked eye - it looks like the second-brightest star, after Venus. Several ancient civilizations, including the ancient Greeks and the ancient Romans, knew about the five planets that can be seen with the naked eye, including Jupiter.
The history of the telescope dates back to the early 1600s. Galileo Galilei is commonly credited for inventing the telescope, but this is not accurate. Galileo was the first to use a telescope for the purpose of astronomy in 1609 (400 years ago in 2009, which is currently being celebrated as the International Year of Astronomy). Hans Lipperhey, a German spectacle maker, is generally credited as the inventor of the telescope, as his patent application is dated the earliest, on the 25th of September 1608.
Lipperhey combined curved lenses to magnify objects by up to 3 times, and eventually crafted sets of binocular telescopes for the Government of the Netherlands.
There exists some confusion as to who actually came up with the idea first. Lipperhey's patent application is the earliest on record, so this is usually used to settle the debate, although another spectacle-maker, Jacob Metius of Alkmaar, a city in the northern part of the Netherlands, filed for a patent for the same device a few weeks after Lipperhey. Another spectacle-maker, Sacharias Janssen, also claimed to have invented the telescope decades after the initial claims by Lipperhey and Metius.
Regardless of the inventor, most of the earliest versions of the telescope used a curved lens made of polished glass at the end of a tube to magnify objects to a factor of 3x. To learn more about how a telescope lens works, read our article on the telescope lens in the Guide to Space.
Hans Lipperhey invented the telescope. He was a German who made glasses in the early 1600's. Many confuse this fact accrediting Galileo with the invention of the telescope because he was the first to use it to view space but this is incorrect.
Galileo is usually considred the first scientific user, though the device first devised by Dutch opticians in about 1608
Galileo started using telescopes for astronomy back in 1609
Hens Lippershey invented the first telescope in 1608.
as weird as it sounds, it was a girl. her name was Melissa vazquez
The first person who made the first telescope was Hans Lippershey, A dutch man who made spectacles. And the person who discovered 4 moons of Jupiter was Galileo.
Galileo Galilei
From what I've heard Galelio Galilei wasnt the first person to inevnt the telescope he was just at the right place at the right time
newton
It was launched on October 18,1989 and arrived December 7, 1995. It was sent to Jupiter to explore the planet and to study it's moons. It had an anttena problem but despite that it was the first do discover an asteroid moon and the first to be in Jupiter's atmosphere.
He Discovered The Jovian Planets ,i.e., jupiter, saturn, neptune and uranus
Nobody has landed on Jupiter yet. That's either because the atmosphere is too acidic, or because there are too many storms. The lander missions to Jupiter have all failed, to my knowledge.
No human has set foot on Jupiter. Earth is the only planet we have set foot on, and the moon the only natural satellite. Also, Jupiter is made of gas, so it has no surface Unmanned probes have been further, is this what you meant? Pioneer 10 first flew a successful mission to Jupiter.
Galileo galilae
Galileo Galilei
he was the first to see Jupiter
the first person to discover gold was Jams W Marshall.
Galileo was probably the first to study Jupiter in detail, with his telescope.
Iverville and Bineville were the first people to discover The Louisiana!
Mount Ararat was likely first discovered by nomadic tribes in ancient times. The first recorded ascent of Mount Ararat was by Johann Jacob Friedrich Wilhelm Parrot in 1829, a German scientist who reached the summit.
The first person to discover one of Jupiter's moons was Italian astronomer Galileo. Galileo invented a telescope and was able to modify it to see celestial bodies more clearly than is possible with the naked eye. This discovery occurred between 1609 and 1610.
