If you are a Christian, and believe in the literal interpretation of The Bible then it would have to be Cain, who slew his brother Abel.
A non-theological answer would be impossible as it probably took place in the dim mists of history when one caveman beat another to death with a rock or club.

∙ 11y agoThere is no way to accurately answer this question. Serial murder is not new, dating back before recorded history. As long as there have been people there have been killers that repeat their offenses over and over.
But one of the earliest known serial killers was the French nobleman Gilles de Rais, who between the years 1435 and 1440, killed hundreds of young boys. He was hanged on October 26, 1440. Another early serial killer was Romanian countess Erszebet Bathory, who was responsible for the deaths of over 600 young girl, most from the nearby village. The countess was finally discovered when she ran short of village girls and began to pick victims from the moneyed upper class. She was banned to her own tower after her arrest in 1610. The Countess was found dead in 1614.

If while incarcerated and another murder is occurred then the subject will be go to trial for murder again but not the same person. You are thinking of double jeopardy. This only occurs after someone is tried and found not guilty. At that point the subject can run outside and say he did it with out being able to be tried again.
