the mother of our present Queen was Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. She was born in 1900 and sadly died in 2002 at the grand old age of 101. There has not been a Queen (or King) of England for over 300 years. England is a part of, but not the same as, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
