While this being a highly controversial topic. It has always come down between the late Wade Hampton and James Ezra Tindal. Exact documents were never fully insured due to the burning that had taken place under Sherman. James Ezra Tindal fought for the Confederate army and was a Secretary Of State For the Confederate States of America, also a very wealth Democrat, his family landed in Charlestowne in 1720 and was granted 20,000 acres by the King of England, in what is now Summerton, SC .The Tindal Family still owns more than 8,000 acres in Summerton, SC and has many political ties in the state. Wade Hampton was also brought down by the Burning but brought his wealth back after the war, he left a very hefty trust fund to the two younger women.
