Some people believe Mary Magdalene's child was Jesus. According to the Bible, a woman who was named Mary daughter of Heli, presumably of Nazareth, gave birth to Jesus. Her husband was the "son-in-law" of Heli (of Nazareth?). Why did Jesus' mother and father-in-law live in Nazareth? Apparently to fulfill prophecies in Isaiah 11:1 and 9:1-2. In Hebrew, Nazareth means "The Branch" [or Eth (aleph, tav,) Nazar (Nun, Tsadiq, Resh, c.f., Isaiah 11:1 where 'branch' is nazar)]. Theologically, Jesus fulfills "The Branch" motif in Scripture. Obviously from all of this, Mary Magdalene or Mary of Migdol or Mary of Tyre-Phoenicia is not Mary of Nazareth, nor, for that matter, Mary of Bethany. It is poor scholarship or analysis to suggest each of these could be the same person unless they were using pseudonyms to evade the bank manager or tax collector. Common sense demands all three women be kept separate. One Mary (of Nazareth) was mother of Jesus. Another Mary (of Bethany) was sister to Martha and Lazarus also of Bethany and they were all good friends and supporters of Jesus. A third Mary was of Magdala or Migdol (= Tyre and/or Phoenicia). She most likely was the demon-possessed daughter of the Syro-Phoenician woman who had the famous interchange with Jesus: He said, "It is not right (for the Messiah implied) to give meat (help) to the dogs (Gentiles or non-Jews). The woman, we assume to be Mary Magdalene's mother, said, "But the house dogs (cocker spaniels, or perhaps anachronistically King Charles Spaniels?) get crumbs (or morsels) from the Master's table."

One intriguing, common sense but very practical possibility, usually overlooked, is that Mary Magdalene did marry a Joseph, from Arimathaea, although whether they had children is unknown. He was the last person to see the beaten, scarred, lacerated, bruised, blood-soaked body of Jesus enter the tomb. Mary was the first to see him exit the tomb with a brand new resurrected body. Since the Resurrection is so crucial to the message Jesus preached, it made common sense and logic for these two people to go on missionary tours to declare what they saw. If Joseph was a bachelor or widowed, perhaps it made sense to marry if such an extensive tour were to take place. A marriage might lead to children of course. However, most of this can only be speculation unless some convincing records surface for us to examine. That might happen. If it did, we need another condition. We would need three different and completely separate and independent records to 'triangulate' such a conclusion. That would be the minimum requirement too! We have one record, the Bible, but at least two more are required. The simple and straight forward answer to this question at the moment is "Nobody knows".

There is no historical evidence or mention in The Bible of Jesus and Mary Magdalene having a child. This idea is a part of non-biblical, speculative texts and theories, such as in the book "The Da Vinci Code", but it is not supported by mainstream Christian beliefs or historical records.
