In 1900, Queen Victoria was the monarch of Great Britain, having reigned since 1837 until her death in January 1901. Following her, Edward VII ascended to the throne, reigning until 1910. By 1955, King George VI was the reigning monarch after taking the throne in 1936 until his death in 1952, after which Queen Elizabeth II became queen.
