King Henry VIII had six wives, in order: Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. Cartherine of Aragon was accused of having an invalid marriage, as she had previously married King Henry VIII's brother, Arthur. She claimed it had never been consumated, but the King used her previous marriage against her in order to obtain a dispensation. She had never provided the surviving male heir he desired, so when he was free to remarry, he married his mistress, Anne Boleyn. Anne Boleyn suffered several miscarriages, which led to Anne's downfall. The paranoid, ill-tempered King had her arrested for charges including treason, adultry, and incest. Queen Anne was then found guilty on these charges and beheaded, along with those suspected to have been her lovers, her own brother amongst them. The day following Anne's execution, the King was bethroted to Jane Seymour, his mistress. (Notice a pattern?) Jane bore the male heir Henry sought so desparately, but died shortly after from complications during birth. Henry declared that she was his only 'true wife' and was buried next to her upon his death. Three years following Queen Jane's death, the King married Anne of Cleves. This marriage quickly ended, as he was not physically attracted to her. She was granted lands previously owned by the Boleyn's, and was named the King's sister. Shortly after this divorce, the King married Katherine (Kitty) Howard, Anne Boleyn's cousin. After approximately two years of marriage, the 16 year old Queen was beheaded like her cousin on charges of treason and adultry, along with the men whom had been accused of bedding her. The King's last marriage was to Catherine Parr, who acted more as a nurse to him than a wife. Catherine Parr outlived the King and married Thomas Seymour, Queen Jane's brother, shortly after his death. Many historians find it ironic that of the King's six wives, only two were murdered, and both of them were descended of the Howard line (Anne Boleyn from her mother's side, Katherine Howard of her father's side).

Two. The old "rhyme" goes "divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived". Two of Henry's wives ... the second and fifth ... were executed, the first and third were divorced (and therefore no longer his wives at the time of their death), the third died (of natural causes), and the sixth was still married to Henry at the time of HIS death.
Anne maintained a friendly relationship with Henry and was welcome at his Court, so it is likely that she met all his two later wives and might have been friendly with them. b
