Phineas Gage's nieces and nephews included (these being children of the marriage of David Dustin Shattuck and Phineas' sister Phebe):

  • Frank Baxter Shattuck
  • Hannah Shattuck
  • Delia Shattuck
  • Mary Shattuck
  • Alice Shattuck

However, the above is certainly not a complete list. The questioner is probably asking in response to the fact that Phineas Gage's mother told his doctor after his death (Gage's death, not the doctor's) that Phineas "was accustomed to entertain his little nieces and newphews with the most fabulous recitals of his wonderful feats and hair-breadth escapes, without any foundation except in his fancy."

Unfortunately by the time Gage left New Hampshire for Chile none of the children of his brothers and sisters were old enough to enjoy Uncle Phineas' storytelling. (This assumes Gage went to Chile around 1852, as his doctor says. However, a faint clue has surfaced suggesting that Gage might still have been in New England as late as 1854, but this possibilityt remains still highly speculative.)

After Chile, Gage went to San Francisco in 1859, but he died soon after (May 21, 1860). The problem on this end is the same: his sister Phebe was there, but her only child at the time (Frank Baxter Shattuck) was about 3 years old when Gage died (and even if this were old enough to delight at Phineas' stories, where are the other nephews, plural, or the nieces?)

The other children of Phebe (lsited above) were all born after Phineas died. Her husband D.D. Shattuck had a number of relatives in SF at the time who might have had children about the right age for storytelling, so those might have been the nieces and nephews referred to.
