In 1605, Samuel de Champlain and several others founded a settlement called Port Royal. It was located in the Annapolis Basin, on the south shore of the Bay of Fundy, in present-day Nova Scotia, Canada. The people who settled there became known as Acadians.
Around 1000 AD but not for long. They would return in the 1500's to stay.
