The Spanish and Portuguese in South America.

In North America, the Vikings were the first to cross the Atlantic. However, The Dutch, English , Spanish, & French all established colonies in North America.

The Dutch in to New York area.

The English in New England, and southwards down the Atlantic Coast. Also Hudson's Bay in Canada.

The French in New Orleans, and up the Mississippi/Missouri rivers in to the Great Lakes and down the St. Lawrence river.

The Spanish colonised Florida, and The South West and Pacific coast of the USA.

The African-American forbears were shipped over, as slaves, from Africa by these colonisers. They were not colonisers in their own right.

That honor has to go to the Spanish. Some say the Vikings, but, they didn't stay long enough to welcome the English or the French.
