Sacajawea, and the American buffalo
In god we trust first appeared on the two cent coin in 1864, but only since 1938 have all coins had the motto inscribed.
The 1964 Kennedy half dollar. it was the only year that the coin was made of 90% silver. In 1965 the coin was "debased" to 40% silver, and in 1971 the composition was changed again to copper-nickel.
The coin is still in circulation and only a dollar.
GodCorrectionContrary to popular misconceptions, the phrase In God We Trust didn't appear on any US coin until 1864 when it was put on 2¢ pieces minted during the Civil War. In fact, it didn't permanently appear on nickels until 1938. A review of coin designs at CoinFacts.com shows that the only words to appear on all denominations of US coins are the country's name, United States of America (or variations). Even the word Liberty didn't appear on all coins, especially when they carried an image of Miss Liberty. Examples of coins without the word include early nickels, dimes up till 1916, and modern Presidential dollars.
The coin was designed at the start of the 20th century, only about 20 years after the frontier had closed. Its designs were chosen to honor the heritage of our frontier and the Native Americans who lived there and the bison they depended on.

Benjamin Franklin - Half Dollar

I think that only Washington and Jefferson are the only US presidents to appear on 1-cent stamps.
In print, only four men have appeared on American currency which were not presidents. The first was Alexander Hamilton on the ten dollar bill. The second was Benjamin Franklin on the hundred-dollar bill the third Head of the Treasury, Salmon Chase, on the $10,000 bill and the fourth was John Marshall who was the fourth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1801-1835, on the $500 bill.
These have not yet appeared on US money: A. Johnson, Hayes, Taft, Harding, Hoover, Truman, Nixon , L. Johnson, Ford, Carter, G.H.W. Bush, Clinton and G.W. Bush. Theodore Roosevelt appeared only a quarter showing Mt Rushmore. B. Harrison, Cleveland, Garfield, and Wilson have appeared only on banknotes with a denomination greater that a dollar. All deceased presidents will appear on one of the new dollar coin series.
Abraham Lincoln is the only president to appear on the US cent (a/k/a penny)
The 1926 half dollar had Calvin Coolidge and George Washington on one side and the Liberty Bell on the back. Only 141,120 coins were made and all at the Philadelphia Mint.
Lincoln. Sorry, but Jefferson is also facing right on the 2005 5 Cents coin, also, some of the Presidents on the Presidential dollars face right.
These coins do not have a minted value and do not appear in coin catalogues, but they are collectible. The only helpful suggestion I can make is to take it along to a local reputable coin dealer for valuation.
In the US, only Washington($1), Jefferson ($2), Lincoln $5), Jackson ($20) and Grant ($50) currently appear.
